Andrew Norman (b. 1979) is a Los Angeles-based composer and educator.  He has written for leading ensembles worldwide and is the recipient of the Grawemeyer Award, the Rome Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and Musical America’s Composer of the Year distinction.  Andrew has served as Composer in Residence with Carnegie Hall,  Young Concert Artists, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.  His piece Play was described in the New York Times as a “breathtaking masterpiece,” and “a revolution in music.”  His most recent orchestral work, Sustain, was lauded as “a new American masterpiece” by the New Yorker and earned the Los Angeles Philharmonic a Grammy for their Deutsche Grammophon recording.  Andrew teaches at the University of Southern California and he also directs the L.A. Philharmonic’s Composer Fellowship Program for high school composers.
