Andrew Norman (b. 1979) is a Los Angeles-based composer and educator. He has written for leading ensembles worldwide and is the recipient of the Grawemeyer Award, the Rome Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and Musical America’s [Composer of the Year](https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.musicalamerica.com_pages_-3Fpagename-3D2017-5FComposer-5FNorman&d=DwMFaQ&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=FHGQm_cKYNMl82WmDVBRG9GW_C-dXdN1pTi7vcbcEBzEuezn-S7AyfcWUCap-tLP&m=Crr378Uewm-al6suXGVAfRBdbDIvsL_rnRvbltOH0aye3NXdRe24OlJTnfSISQ-_&s=nZew060rTackEpuhnEQo0odR8X00AH6-UK_xTkJUt_4&e=) distinction. Andrew has served as Composer in Residence with Carnegie Hall, Young Concert Artists, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. His piece *Play* was described in the New York Times as a “breathtaking masterpiece,” and “a revolution in music.” His most recent orchestral work, *Sustain*, was lauded as “a new American masterpiece” by the New Yorker and earned the Los Angeles Philharmonic a Grammy for their Deutsche Grammophon recording. Andrew teaches at the University of Southern California and he also directs the L.A.
